Zero Waste Nepal and Chhetrapati Free Clinic

Zero Waste Nepal and Chhetrapati Free Clinic, Kathmandu organized an Interaction program on the "Application of Zero Waste Application in Solid Waste Management at Household Level". There was a presence of over 55 participants including doctors, women, businessman, volunteer members of Disaster Management Committee and social workers.

Mr. Bijay Bahadur Mali, ward chairman and organizer of the program welcomed all the participants. Mr. Badan Lal Nyachhyon, ZWN president made presentation on the above topic and highlighted that the Solid Waste Hazard of Kathmandu Valley could be managed through community based approach through application of Zero Waste Concept. The concept comprises of four legs:

Producing clean waste;
Sending back the waste to its source of generation;
Disposal ban on public place or nature and
Mobilizing community participation in SW Management.
He further proposed that pilot program "Zero Waste Street" shall be initiated in Chhetrapati area with selection of small area where ZW concept could be implemented in a trial basis.
