The USAID/India's Regional Urban Environmental Policy and Management Support Project (RUPEONMAN) in partnership with USAID/Nepal and Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC), Nepal organized a Regional Workshop on "Urban Environmental Management - Community Based Solutions" dated 29 January 2004 at Hotel Hyatt, Kathmandu, Nepal. There was a presence of over 120 participants of Nepal, India, Bangladesh & Sri Lanka.

Mr. Badan Lal Nyachhyon, ZWN president made presentation on the "Community Based Solid Waste Management at Dharan Municipality" in the said workshop and highlighted that the Solid Waste could be managed through community based approach through application of Zero Waste Concept. Mr. Bibhuti Man Singh (ZWN General Secretary) participated the programme.
