Waste Characterization

The Solid waste could be categorized into two type i.e. municipal and special waste. The waste, which requires a sincere attention to management, is characterized into special waste while other waste is considered into municipal waste. The special waste includes hospital/bio-medical, slaughter, construction, chemical and industrial waste. Where as the municipal waste includes the waste generated from the households, business units, pedestrians, vendors, and institutions. The municipal waste consisting of bio-degradable waste, recyclable waste such as plastic, paper, metal, glass, textile/jute. The landfill waste such as dust, ceramic, packaging foams, furnishing waste bricks sands and ashes. The special hazardous waste comprises of chemical, waste generated from surgical ward/operation theater such as medicine, rappers, activated syringe/needle, saline, cloth/cotton, gloves, blood, pieces of tissue/bone, mercury, and others.
