Waste Generation

In the context of Nepal, the per capita waste generation of the urban centers varies from 0.20 to 0.28 kg per day. The waste composition includes biodegradable compostable ranges from 24.95% to 65.1 %. Recyclable and reusable waste varies from 15.95% to 27.9%. And the waste as inert material, which requires landfill site or land reclamation, varies from 18.7% to 49.94%. The comparative waste composition of four different municipalities is illustrated in the following table. The information is derived from the relevant reports produced by different organizations/firms including Zero Waste Nepal in various dates.
